THE CULTURAL DIMENSION OF FOOD

This research explores the relationship between food and religion, conviviality and the identity of peoples within the great culinary traditions, and its role in influencing lifestyles and factors in production and the economy.

Culture codifies the rules of good nutrition with a complex set of taboos, rituals, recipes, guidelines and traditions. This paper takes the path that has transformed eating into culture and communication, entering into the merits of the determinants of the eating behaviors of omnivores, to fully understand the dynamics of humans’ relationship with food.
